Since the 18th CPC National Congress, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has continued to speed up the construction of power grids, expanding at an average rate of putting into operation two ultra-high voltage substations and building 877 kilometers of transmission lines every year. On November 22, 2016, after the successful operation of the Ili Kuqa 750 kV power transmission and transformation project, known as the "power Heaven Road", Xinjiang 750 kV power grid extended to the north and south. In 2019, it extended to Hotan, the southernmost region of Xinjiang for the first time, and a year later, it extended to Altay region again. Since then, Xinjiang 750 kV power grid has achieved full Prefecture coverage.
In order to improve the power supply capacity and quality of 750 kV power grid and enhance the complementary capacity of resources in northern and southern Xinjiang, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. has made great efforts to speed up the construction of power grid in southern Xinjiang while stabilizing the grid structure in Northern Xinjiang. It has invested 3.6 billion yuan to implement the extension and reinforcement project of 750 kV power grid in southern Xinjiang, including Bachu Shache, Kashi Shache, Shache Hotan and other 750 kV power transmission and transformation projects and supporting projects in southern Xinjiang, It has greatly improved the production and living electricity problems of the masses in southern Xinjiang.
"The 750 kV power transmission and transformation project in southern Xinjiang can change the relatively backward situation of power grid construction in southern Xinjiang. After connecting the power grids of the four prefectures of Southern Xinjiang to the 750 kV main network in Xinjiang, the reliability of power supply in southern Xinjiang is significantly enhanced, which is of great significance to optimizing the investment environment, attracting enterprises to settle down and promoting local economic development." State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. equipment department mufenglei said.
Xinjiang's main grid structure has been gradually strengthened, and the North-South power vein of Tianshan has been fully opened. Xinjiang's 750 kV power grid spans 2000 kilometers from east to west and 3300 kilometers from north to south, forming a main grid structure of "internal power supply four ring network". 25 750 kV substations have been built, with a substation capacity of 73.352 million KVA, 750 kV transmission lines of 8771.846 kilometers, and 750 kV power grid covers 14 prefectures in Xinjiang, providing a reliable guarantee for the social and economic development of the autonomous region.
Build "four channels" for export and promote the realization of national energy allocation
Xinjiang is an important national energy supply base. The construction of energy channels and the implementation of "Xinjiang power transmission" are conducive to transforming Xinjiang's resource advantages into economic and industrial advantages, which are related to national energy security, industrial layout and Xinjiang's leapfrog development. Since the 18th CPC National Congress, State Grid Corporation of China has attached great importance to it and issued a number of measures to fully support the stable development of Xinjiang. Accelerating the implementation of UHV power grid is one of the specific measures to serve the social stability and economic development of Xinjiang.
With the support of the State Grid Corporation of China's assistance policy to Xinjiang, in 2010, the Hami Dunhuang 750 kV power transmission and transformation project, the first channel between Xinjiang and the northwest main network, was completed and put into operation, and Xinjiang's rich power resources were exported for the first time. In June 2013, the second channel of 750 kV Xinjiang and northwest main network interconnection was completed and put into operation, and the "Xinjiang power transmission" capacity was increased to 2million kW. In 2014, after the first Xinjiang UHV DC transmission project - Hami South Zhengzhou ± 800 kV HVDC transmission project was put into operation, Xinjiang's fourth export channel - Changji Guquan ± 1100 kV HVDC transmission project was put into operation in 2019, and Xinjiang's power export transmission capacity increased from 8.4 million kW to 18.4 million KW, building a "two AC and two direct" export channel pattern, opening up the highway for the development of Xinjiang's energy industry. Since then, Xinjiang power grid has entered a new era of ultra-high voltage, AC / DC hybrid connection, long-distance and large capacity transmission.

Since the Changji Guquan ± 1100 kV HVDC transmission project was put into operation, breakthroughs have been made in the outward power transmission of Xinjiang power. The "four channels" have delivered more than 100 billion kwh for two consecutive years in 2020 and 2021. Among them, the Changji Guquan ± 1100 kV HVDC transmission project delivered 55.06 billion kwh in 2021, with a year-on-year increase of 25.3%, ranking first in the country.
Today, the scope of Xinjiang power transmission has covered 20 provinces, autonomous regions and cities in China. Four transmission channels allow Xinjiang power to reach Shanghai in the East, Beijing in the north and Guangdong in the south, helping Xinjiang transform its energy advantages into economic advantages. At the same time, relying on the strategic position of "three bases and one channel", it will give full play to the role of energy supply, and promote the realization of "a chess game" of national energy allocation.
In particular, in July 2021, many places in Henan Province encountered extreme heavy rainfall, resulting in the shortage of electricity in Henan society. State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. shouldered the political responsibility, played the role of the power grid at the sending end, optimized the operation plan, and strengthened the on-site coordination. According to the dispatching arrangement of the State Grid Corporation of China, the power of Hami South Zhengzhou ± 800 kV HVDC transmission project was increased to 6million kW for the first time, and 144million kwh were transmitted to Henan every day, fully ensuring the power consumption for flood control, disaster relief and post disaster reconstruction in Henan.
Strong power grid promotes the development of clean energy in Xinjiang
On July 2, eight 6.25 MW wind turbines invested and constructed by Hami Yuehe Hydropower Energy Co., Ltd. were successfully connected to the grid through 72 hour trial operation in thirteen room wind District of Hami City. According to Wang Dongbiao, deputy general manager of the company, compared with the original 1.5 MW wind turbine, the wind energy utilization rate of the wind turbine put into operation this time is increased by 40%, and the land acquisition area is reduced by 60%. After the completion of the project, the annual power generation is expected to reach 140million kwh.
Thirteen room wind area, also known as "hundred mile wind area", is one of the nine wind areas in Xinjiang. 14 wind power projects were started in 2022, with a total installed capacity of 700000 kW. In order to ensure the delivery of new energy, State Grid Xinjiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. actively serves new energy enterprises, optimizes the grid connection process, reduces the grid connection time limit, and organizes multiple professionals to actively cooperate with local stations to carry out acceptance and eliminate defects, so as to help the rapid development of Xinjiang's new energy industry.
